TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration)

TESA is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to retrieve sperm directly from the testicles in cases of severe male infertility. It is commonly used when no sperm is found in the semen (azoospermia) or for men who have had a vasectomy.

TESA Process

Step 1

Diagnosis & Planning

The fertility specialist assesses the male partner’s condition and determines if TESA is the appropriate procedure for sperm retrieval.

Step 2

Local Anesthesia & Procedure

TESA is performed under local anesthesia. A fine needle is inserted into the testicle to extract sperm-containing tissue.

Step 3

Sperm Extraction

The retrieved tissue is processed in a lab to isolate live sperm, which are then prepared for use in IVF or ICSI.

Step 4

IVF or ICSI Treatment

The collected sperm is injected into the partner’s eggs during IVF or ICSI, allowing fertilization to occur.
